Visited Ritrovo on a recent trip to RI. To be fair, I have frequented this place many times before moving out of state. This restaurant is a great spin off from Richard's Pub, and Eric, the chef, has done a fantastic job with the menu and offerings. The staff is always friendly, the appetizers are always interesting and the ordering either from the menu or the list of specials is never a gamble because you know the food is going to be excellent. This is definitely on my list of restaurants to stop at when in RI.

Met friends for dinner on a Wednesday which just happened to be ladies night-all specials 1/2 off for the ladies. There are so many specials we all got one. I had the flounder with spinach and summer squash. The fish was delicious! Breaded and fried with capers. I couldn't stop eating! The portions are quite large and I had left overs for lunch the next two days. We splurged on dessert and we all had a glass of wine. With tip it came to about $30/person. We will definitely be back.

This is the fourth time I've eaten here and tonight was the best meal by far. I had the Ritrovo scrod and it was delightful, light and flaky and tasty. Prior visits I have had just dinner salads and they were pedestrian at best.

Where do I begin!? Went here for dinner last night and it was a good and bad experience. Why the food that my family ate was good my particular dish/dishes were lackluster at best. The pink vodka with penne was so bland it I'm not sure it was actually pink vodka sauce, then they top it with precooked and reheated chicken that had absolutely no taste whatsoever. Cooking 101- salt and pepper? So why 3 stars? The waiter.. His name was Seth and he was the most attentive and hard working waiter I've seen in a while. Forgot nothing was back to clear empty glasses and plates to make it easier on us. So if your going to go their make sure Seth is working and you won't be disappointed with the service .

Hubby and I ordered take out, we live close by and wanted to try it for quite some time. My hubby ordered apps.. clam zuppa (packaged improperly so it spilled in the car) stuffed mushrooms (soggy, tiny horrible taste) and potato skins( just okay). I ordered the veal palm sandwich thinking as an Italian grill it would be delicious... Well I was severely disappointed, my veal is so over cooked the breading is burnt, the sauce was so cheap tasting, Im guessing it comes straight from a can nothing added to it. So bland, hardly any cheese. The only part of my meal I semi-enjoyed was the fries. I will give this spot one more try, because I've worked in many kitchens and I know sometimes we have an off day. I hoping this was the case tonight.

Third time is more than a charm. The seafood risotto was unflippinbelievable! I could eat this every day....almost. This is the best risotto I have ever had and now I have a favorite place while staying in Rhode Island.

The experience was worth repeating. Sara was an informative and amazing waitress. The food was excellent and prepared to perfection. We will return! Also posted on Facebook for a friend in the area to check out. What a great find!

I'm upset I did not experience the ratings that others have given for this restaurant. I have been years ago and was excited to go back this weekend since I remembered good things. I will start off by saying the place looks very clean but that is unfortunately where the good experience ends. We chose to sit at the bar since we were getting a late lunch and did not want the formality of dinner. We were stunned to hear there was no drink menu outside of a beer and wine list. I find it strange when places don't have some sort of cocktails offered when they have hard liquor on hand. We received our beer and menus and soon placed our orders. I might add that the bartender seemed like she couldn't care less that she had customers due to her lack of personality and existence for the remainder of the time spent here. I ordered the make your own pasta with the bolognese sauce and my friend ordered a ruben. After waiting awhile for our food and almost feeling like we were forgotten about, our meal arrived. The bartender dropped our food and didn't come back to check on how things were until we were halfway done and had been staring at her since we both had needed things. Overall about the food...his ruben was missing thousand island dressing on it and was cold and my pasta tasted like Chef Boyardee straight out of the can with some different pasta. The meat tasted like it was reheated from probably the night before. We both suffered through eating only due to how hungry we were after waiting so long and the fact our bartender was walking around the entire time outside of the bar and was nowhere near us at any point to be able to say anything without yelling to her. Overall I would never go back to this place. Unfortunately I had high hopes this place would be decent since we love their sister company Richard's Pub (who has an awesome drink menu).

My family choice for dinner several times per month. Always nice staff, great drinks and food choice has some interesting changes and options. Clean and comfortable, sometimes on the loud side, but fun all the same. Big bar, if just my husband and I we choose to sit at the bar. Big TV screens, always active.

I am here on business and the hotel suggested this place. I got take out and I am only a few min away. I ordered nearly $30 of dinner and dessert and ordered veal. I asked if it is fresh or frozen and how good was it. I was told very good and fresh. It wad terrible and overcooked. I got bread and no butter or EVOO. I wish I had just gone to Panera. Buyer beware. I also posted my concern on the FB page. They never sent me a massage to inquire and simply deleted it. I will make sure I share this with my local and remote team to warn how terrible this was and expensive. I not mind paying if it is good. I paid nearly $40 tonight from Bistro Nine and it w as great!

Once again an excellent experience. Brought the fam to our now local go to restaurant. Plenty of tv's keep the kids occupied, especially during the Olympics. We have not been disappointed any time we have been here. Seems like the Friday night spot for many families. The atmosphere is white noise of many patrons enjoying their drinks and meals while running into other friends. Always seem to be able to seat us, party if 5, no matter what time we get here. A must try.

Place is pretty nice inside..nothing extravagant. Crowd was approximately 50 years plus in age. The restaurant lacked subtle background music. You could only hear conversations and sliver wear touching plates. Good setup of the tvs but no volume. As far as the food, we had buffalo wings which were very good. My girlfriend has class over linguine which she said was fresh possibly home made pasta but it lacked flavor. I had a cheeseburger which was pretty good. $1.99 coors and bud light drafts are a good deal

Very bad dining experience. Manager was rude, unprofessional, and insulting. Appalled that a restaurant would treat its guests in this manner. After informing my friend that I thought my meal was not the best I ever had the manager overheard and grabbed my plate away from me an threw it in the trash. I was left with my glass of wine and was not extended the opportunity to order something different. Was actually informed by the manager that I must be having a bad day. After being informed that the salmon I ordered was no longer a menu option I was not even offered a menu to make a new selection and ordered from what I remembered being on the menu. Sadly, this is the third bad experience I have had here. I will not return for a fourth experience to be insulted and receive bad service/food

We had a wonderful visit to Ritrovo. I have been using Yelp for so long and saying to myself that so many of you have helped me find great places to eat while traveling and I should contribute by leaving my own reviews to help people like me. Ritrovo was so good I'm actually finally leaving a review. The atmosphere was really laid back, the food was fresh and house made and the service was great (Thanks Jay!) I had the scallops risotto and it was fantastic and prepared nicely. My daughter had the tortellini and marinara, someone else had linguine and spicy marinara, also the vodka sauce was awesome. We enjoyed everything! Definitely worth the visit. Happy Dining!

Honestly, I've eaten there two times and both times it was heavenly. The second time - I had the best meal I've ever had in my life! Scallops over butternut squash ravioli. WOW. Great place. I didn't know that it was even there (sort of on the Main rd. but behind other things). It's a perfect place - lots of choices, comfy atmosphere, great food.

Close to home. Nice interior, nice bar setup. We have been going out early sat nights to avoid the crowds. We found ourselves with just a handful of people at 4:30, it's picked up by 5:30. We sat at the bar and had great drinks. Very friendly staff. I ordered the build your own pasta dish with penne, sausage and meatballs. Great sauce, very nice comfort food. Large portions. My wife had chicken parm, it was good, not great. Dessert was good as well. I think this place is a great family go to spot that will not cost you a fortune. We may just have a new favorite spot near home. Side note: very clean restrooms, shows good management.

Nothing extraordinary...Restaurant was clean and the service was very nice, plenty of tv's and keno around the bar...The food was okay, BBQ chicken nachos were the best part, I then had the grilled chicken caesar salad and it was adequate. The salad dressing was not homemade, defiantly store bought & the chicken could have used more of a marinade.

Solid if unspectacular. We've been here a few times as it is not too far from our home. It's a decent place with nice staff. The menu selection isn't too adventurous or exciting, but full of a decent selection of Italian-American fare and standard pub grub (sandwiches, apps, salads, etc). Atmosphere is nice, if a bit dark. Prices are reasonable and they do have a special on Tuesdays where they give you a $5 gift card for every $25 you spend. Food has been good every time we've been; we've had the nachos, calamari, and various sandwiches the times we've been. Nothing to write home about, but nothing to complain about either. It's a nice fall back if we can't figure out anywhere else to go. Seems to attract the senior set as opposed to a younger crowd.

Scallops are yummy here! We were in a hurry - our waiter made sure to get us in and out in time. We really appreciated that!

1st time here. Didn't even know about this place and I live 1 mile away. You cannot see this restaurant from the street. Nice atmosphere, good food. Not a huge menu choice but items on it are traditional Italian with a good mix of east coast seafood. The warm Italian Bread and the spiced olive oil with the meal was very good also. I had the Sea Scallops Appetizer as a meal and it was very good.

Very cozy, friendly atmosphere. Had Jay (Vahan) as our waiter, service was great, food was delicious! Got the BBQ chicken pizza...I would recommend it to anyone...anyone!

This is my second review of this place, but I've been back a few times since the first review. Definitely 4+ stars. My last meal there started with Calamari Ritrovo. Excellent and highly recommended. Balsamic reduction over batter-fried squid with fresh red peppers throughout. Main course was Veal Parm, about as good as it gets in RI because of Ritrovo's house red sauce, another definite winner methinks. It was a crowded Friday night. Hostess told us it would be 25-minute wait and we were seated exactly as she predicted. To me, this screams "good management". ( Ed note: This is rare all by itself: I can't count the number of times a host/hostess somewhere told me it would be a 30-minute wait, only to watch it stretch to 50 minutes or more. ) Service from Vanessa was bright, pleasant and smart. Next time? They have at least 5 kinds of fresh homemade pasta and a half-dozen homemade sauces, so I am going to hit the traditional spaghetti and meatballs and try to have a dessert.

Stopped here on a whim while waiting for a movie to start. We sat at the bar. The bartender was chipper and chatted us up a bit. We had a swordfish salad special. The fish and the blueberry balsamic reduction were very bland. The salad was very creative (peaches, artichoke hearts, tomatoes, baby spinach) but needed some sort of dressing to boost the flavor. For our main course we split the eggplant parm. It was large and plenty to split. Also nice that it was homemade, however the red sauce was very bland and missing something. Atmosphere was nice. I will possibly give this place another try sometime if I happen to be in the area, but don't think it's worth making a special trip for it.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
